CITY CHAMPIONS!

We are so proud of our boys and girls middle school basketball teams for making it to their respective division city championship games this past Saturday at Hiram Johnson High School. Our girls team had a fantastic season, and finished as runners-up in their division. Great job, Lady Dragons!!

Our boys team played an extremely tough opponent in Fortune School, but came away with the victory and WON THE CITY CHAMPIONSHIP! We can’t wait to hang another banner in our gym to honor this team’s accomplishment! Both of our teams’ trophies will also be on display in the office soon!

A huge thank you to our players for all of their hard work and dedication this season, as well as to all of our parents for their support of our program. Also a huge thank you to Coach Cline (girls) and Coach Schaefer (boys) for leading our teams to such successful seasons. Go Dragons!!!

ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL TRYOUTS (4TH-6TH GRADE)

SCUSD’s elementary (grades 4-6) basketball league is back this spring! Try-outs for this co-ed team will be next Tuesday (2/14) and Wednesday (2/15) from 3:00pm – 4:30pm in the gym. The final roster (15 players) will be posted in the front office window on Thursday, February 16 ^th (2:15pm). Team participation forms must be completed and turned in at the tryout. Hard copies are available in the main office. This year’s team will be coached by our middle school boys coach, Trent Schaefer. MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER TRYOUTS (6TH-8TH GRADE)

The middle school soccer season is right around the corner. Soccer tryouts for 6th-8th grade boys and girls will be Tuesday, 2/14, and Wednesday, 2/15, from 4:00-5:30 at John Cabrillo Elementary School (1141 Seamas Ave.). Final rosters will be posted in the front office window on the morning of Thursday, 2/16. Team participation forms must be completed and turned in at the tryout. Hard copies are available in the main office . After the final rosters are posted, the first practices for those players will be Thursday, 2/16 and Friday, 2/17 from 4:00-5:30 at Cabrillo. Reach out to our Athletic Director, Mr. Carras, with questions:  Mike-Carras@scusd.edu . 

UPCOMING HOLIDAYS

There will be no school on Monday, February 13th (Lincoln’s Day) and on Monday, February 20th (President’s Day). Blacktop announcements will be on the Tuesday morning of each of those weeks.

2023-2024 KINDERGARTEN AND 7TH GRADE OPEN ENROLLMENT 

There will be a limited number of spots available to Open Enrollment applicants for Kindergarten and 7th grade. The window for Open Enrollment applications is February 1st – February 15th. In-coming kinders and 7th graders who do not live in the Didion neighborhood boundaries and who have siblings already attending Didion will need to apply for registration via Open Enrollment, but are given priority as long as they indicate their sibling status on the application. 6th graders who are currently attending Didion DO NOT have to apply for Open Enrollment for 7th grade and will automatically “roll-over.” CLICK HERE  for more information about Open Enrollment. 

SPRING FEST 2023

Save the date for Spring Fest 2023 on Saturday, March 25th!  Kids will get a chance to fill their baskets with eggs stuffed with goodies and everyone will get to enjoy tasty fried rice and donuts. We are looking for donations of plastic Easter eggs along with small toys and nut & chocolate free candy to fill the eggs. Donations can be dropped off in the library or front office until March 13th. More details to come soon!

MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE

The next middle school dance is this Friday, 2/10, from 3:30-5:30 in the gym. Tickets are $6 each and on sale before school, after school, and during the middle school lunch. Parents, please make sure to pick up your child promptly at 5:30 on Friday if they are attending the dance.
