Post

Dear Didion Families,

Here are some important updates and reminders:

2023-2024 KINDERGARTEN NEIGHBORHOOD REGISTRATION

Registration packets for neighborhood kindergarteners for the 2023-2024 school year will be accepted directly at the Didion main office from Tuesday, January 10, 2023 through Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Please let your friends, family, and neighbors know!

2023-2024 KINDERGARTEN AND 7TH GRADE OPEN ENROLLMENT

There will be a limited number of spots available to Open Enrollment applicants for Kindergarten and 7th grade. The window for Open Enrollment applications is February 1st – February 15th. In-coming kinders and 7th graders who do not live in the Didion neighborhood boundaries and who have siblings already attending Didion will need to apply for registration via Open Enrollment, but are given priority as long as they indicate their sibling status on the application. 6th graders who are currently attending Didion DO NOT have to apply for Open Enrollment for 7th grade and will automatically “roll-over.” CLICK HERE  for more information about Open Enrollment.

JANUARY PTA MEETING RESCHEDULED TO 1/18/23

This month’s PTA meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 18th at 5:30 pm. You can join in-person at Didion’s cafeteria or virtually on Zoom (Meeting ID: 854 3505 8963, Passcode: DidionPTA). View all details at http://tinyurl.com/DidionPTAEvents

DECEMBER DYNAMIC DRAGONS

Congratulations to our December Dynamic Dragons! CLICK HERE to see all of the students who were recognized. The character trait that students will be learning about this month is perspective-taking.  CLICK HERE to read about how you can support your child’s development of this important trait at home.

MLK HOLIDAY, 1/16/23

There will be no school next Monday, January 16th, in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

GATE SCREENING

All 1st and 3rd grade students will be screened for GATE between 1/10 and 2/24. Look for more information to be sent home from your child’s teacher.

COLD WEATHER

Please dress your child in layers for the cold, windy, and rainy weather. Also, don’t forget to check the lost and found rack before or after school if your child loses their jacket!

TRAFFIC AND SAFETY

Thank you for reminding all driving family members to drive slowly and cautiously throughout the entire Didion neighborhood, and beyond all of the crosswalks. The safety of our students is everyone’s top priority, and I appreciate everyone’s care and patience while driving, especially during poor weather.

BUYING/SELLING/TRADING

Students may not buy, sell, or trade items from home at school (this includes Pokemon cards). Students also may not exchange (i.e. “loan” or “borrow”) money with other students at school.
