Even though Student Council has just begun we’ve already started on some annual projects such as Kids Can and Red Ribbon Spirit Week that we hope you enjoy participating in as much as we do!
Kids Can Food Drive is an annual fundraiser that supports families in need of food. We have selected the South Sacramento Sacramento Interfaith Partnership (SSIP) as the beneficiary. It spans from October 12th to November 11th. Excited to help? Its easy! All you have to do is bring canned goods or non-perishable food items to school and put them in the boxes labeled “Kids Can,” in your classroom. Last year Didion went above and beyond their goal of 2500 cans and ended with 5700 cans. Thats more than twice the initial goal!
Another event thats happening is Red Ribbon Spirit Week which will take place Monday, October 26th to Friday, October 30th. During Red Ribbon Week students show their spirit by participating in the themed “Spirit Week” in support of being drug free! An informational conference about bullying will also be held this week by Kovars Martial Arts.
These are just some of our ideas and traditions so we would love to hear yours! If you have an idea project that Student Council can help facilitate, come talk to to us! We’d love to hear your suggestions!
What is the difference between an after school program and a student club/activity? The difference between an after school program and student club is that a program is facilitated by an outside organization and usually charges for students to participate in the program.
Please be sure to thank your safety patrol when crossing the street. Their advisor is Mr. Carras, and the patrol is Heather Gee, Jarred Hather, Emily Louie, Stephenwolf Mullins, Danielle Reyes, Jaskiran Soomal, and Elliot Tom.
